A Message from Our Chief Executive Officer

Our staff welcomes you as a patient and guest to Winn Parish Medical Center. It is our primary focus that you receive top quality care and that you get well rapidly.

Our goal is to provide medical services, comfort and care to patients, and to assist your physician in treating you.

Scores of people, some of whom you may never meet, will now have their attention focused on you. Your recovery is our primary objective. We know that hospital procedures are often confusing, but our employees will always try to encourage and reassure you. People in many ancillary areas are all working to speed your recovery, support the work of the doctors and nurses.

At Winn Parish Medical Center, we continue to look in the future and strive to provide the quality healthcare that is expected by patients in our service area.

We welcome any suggestions that you believe will improve our services.

Bryan Bogle

Chief Executive Officer

About Winn Parish Hospital

Our hospital was founded in 1948 by three Physicians with a solid commitment to the wellbeing of the people of Winn Parish and the surrounding region. Those physicians were: Dr. John McElwee, Dr. George Rodgers, and Dr. John T. Mosley.

At that time, Winn Parish Medical Center had 30 beds; an operating room, a delivery room, and x-ray and laboratory services. It was the only hospital within a 50 mile radius of Winnfield. In 1963, an addition was made to the existing hospital with 24 private rooms being added as well as a new laboratory and dietary department. Two years later, expansion was needed again. This included enlarging business offices, adding a medical records office, a new delivery room, labor rooms, recovery rooms, a doctor’s lounge, and a second emergency room. In 1972 construction began on a new administrative wing and a two story addition which included a new lab, x-ray room, operating room, pharmacy, physical therapy section, acoronary care unit, and additional patient rooms. While over the years more physical ground changes have been made and names, faces, titles, technology, expectations, and clinical outcomes have changed, our same solid commitment still remains.

Today, with more than 175 highly trained and dedicated employees, Winn Parish Medical Center provides a wide array of inpatient and outpatient services including: Cardiology, Intensive Care, Emergency Services, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Radiology, General Surgery, Physical Therapy, Urology and more.

Winn Parish Medical Center is committed to providing high-tech healthcare for the needs of today’s healthcare consumer and has emerged as a vibrant healthcare organization exhibiting warmth, concern and insight into the needs of patients, their families, and the surrounding communities.

Visiting Hours and Guidelines

Family support is important to the healing process of the patient. Please keep in mind the patient’s need for rest, quiet and privacy. Because visiting can be tiring to the patient, we ask that friends and relatives follow these visitation guidelines:

  • No more than two visitors are allowed at the bedside at a time.
  • Children under 12 years of age and are not allowed to visit. This is for their protection and the well being of patients.
  • Patients are susceptible to contagious illness, so persons with colds, sore throats or other contagious illness should not visit.
  • For the comfort of other patients, we ask that visitors speak quietly.
  • Please respect all “no visitor” and “isolation” signs. The attending physician for the patients benefit has ordered these signs.
