Winn Parish Medical Center Welcomes James Lee, MD, General Surgeon

James S. Lee, MD, General Surgeon, has joined the Medical Staff of Winn Parish Medical Center and has begun his practice of General Surgery in Winnfield, LA.  Bryan Bogle, CEO of Winn Parish Medical Center welcomed Dr. Lee to the community and hospital, commenting, “Dr. Lee brings his high level of education and experience in the field of  General Surgery to the service of the people of Winn Parish and our surrounding area.  This vital medical specialty is of great value to those members of our community whose medical condition requires the highly specialized skills of a surgeon.”

Dr. Lee earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1993 from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, Colorado. He completed his Surgical Residency at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1998 and completed a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology and Endoscopy at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York in 2000.   Dr. Lee is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Society of Surgical Oncologist, and the American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons.   He holds licenses in the state of Colorado and Louisiana.   In addition to General Surgery, Dr. Lee specializes in Surgical Oncology and Endoscopy.

Dr. Lee will practice out of his medical offices located at 100 Magnolia Street in Winnfield, Louisiana.  He will see new patients by appointment.  His office will be open Monday – Friday from 8am to 5pm.   Appointments can be made by calling 318.302.3602.

Dr. Lee resides with his family in Winnfield.

Patient and Family Education

Winn Parish Medical Center plans, supports and coordinates activities and resources for patient and family education. These goals are:

  • To improve patient outcomes by educating patients and families to promote recovery, adjustment and healthy behavior, utilizing a multidisciplinary approach;
  • To promote interactive communication between patients and providers;
  • To improve patient’s understanding of their health status, options for treatment, and the anticipated risks and benefits of treatment;
  • To encourage patient participation in decision making about care;
  • To increase the likelihood that patients will follow their therapeutic plans of care;
  • To maximize patient self-care skills;
  • To increase the patient’s ability to cope with his or her health status;
  • To enhance patient participation in continuing care;
  • To promote healthy life styles; and
  • To inform patients about their financial responsibilities for treatment when known.
  • To promote patient’s understanding of pain and the importance of effective pain management;
  • To provide guidelines for the documentation of interdisciplinary education.

Emergency Services Physicians Group Association Announced

Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield has announced that NES Healthcare Group has been chosen to provide physician coverage for the medical center’s Emergency Department.
